On April 7, 1927 Lucien Hubbard, a mogul in the film business and Charles Bender, Hubbard's son-in-law, purchased land from Southern Pacific Land Company which was the beginning of the B-bar-H Guest Ranch. Then in 1937 the B-bar-H Ranch was opened to the public for the first time. The B-bar-H Ranch in Desert Hot Springs once touted itself as 'a fine hotel without the tinsel', but it was Tinseltown that put the rustic guest ranch on the map. Hollywood royalty flocked to the ranch to experience ranch-style living. To enjoying the amazing experiences that Desert Hot Springs has to offer, movie stars including Clark Gable, Tyrone Powers, Joan Crawford, Bing Crosby, Janet Gaynor, Bob Hope, Irene Dunne and so many more, visited the B-bar-H Ranch to partake in horseback riding, go to the nearby mineral hot springs and soak up the sun, always surrounded by stunning views of our San Jacinto and San Gorgonio Mountains. The B-bar-H Ranch boasts 6 bedrooms, 5 baths; all with private entrances and each suite opens up onto a beautiful courtyard. The Main house offers a formal living room with a beautiful large fireplace, stunning wood beamed ceilings, kitchen and dining room. Then in what was a formal dining room, there is now a Billiard/Game Room. The Billiard/Game room separates the primary living space from the Main house. The primary living space has 2 entrances, one from the Billiard/Game Room and a second private entrance from the courtyard.
